Welcome to Sonlight's staff. We are excited that God has led you to serve Him in Haiti. Moving to a new country and adjusting to a new culture can be stressful. We want to make this transition as comfortable as possible for you. Please review the information we've provided for new missionaries, and let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

PREPARING FOR HAITI: 8 TIPS

Pray that God will give you peace and prepare you for the challenges, struggles, and joys ahead.

Involve your family, friends, and church in your preparation plans. Share specific prayer requests, raise support, and invite them to visit you during your time in Haiti.

Stay in close communication with Sonlight's staff. Learn about the specifics of your future home and classroom.

Learn about Haiti and its people. Study and practice simple Creole words and phrases.

Send supplies to the boat during the summer, so they'll arrive during the first few month you're in Haiti.

Pack and send furnishing that will make your new house in Haiti a home. Take framed photos, curtains, rugs, books - whatever makes you comfortable and says "home" to you.

Reach out to your fellow Sonlight staff members. If may have roommates in Haiti, so get to know them before you move.

If possible, visit Sonlight sometime in the months before you move.
