| Dear Friend,
I have been presented with a wonderful opportunity. As a result of many
prayers, a need, a dream, and a desire to be used by God, I have decided to
use the ability given me to teach at Sonlight Academy in Haiti.
Sonlight Academy is a Christian school serving the people of Port-de-Paix,
Haiti. The Academy began in 1987 and now has more than 300 students enrolled
in preschool through twelfth grade. I will be teaching (18 third graders)
everyday. I will not only be able to teach these students academic subjects,
like math and language, but I will also teach them from the Bible.
In Haiti, needs are evident. People need homes, food, clothing, medical
attention, and an education. Most importantly, they need a Savior. Through
Sonlight Academy, I will have the opportunity to help meet two of their
needs, one being their most desperate, a way of salvation, and the second
being an education. I feel that an education in which Jesus Christ is
central will affect the entire course of a child's life.
Sonlight's teacher team will leave the United States in August to prepare
for the school year. I have made an initial two-year commitment to serve at
Sonlight. I want and need you to be a part of this important endeavor with
me. I need those willing to pray on a regular basis. I also need financial
support. To be able to participate in this ministry, I must raise $15,600
($1,300 per month). I am asking my Christian friends to make a commitment to
give $25, $50, or $100 monthly starting this July.
Please pray about your involvement with me in this ministry for God, and
respond as soon as possible. I pray that together we may take part in
Colossians 1:28, "Teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present
everyone PERFECT before Christ."
