Sonlight Church |
| We planted Sonlight Church to meet the needs of our community and to provide a place for our students to worship as they became believers. We began an English service in the Academy's preschool room in December 1991. In the fall of 1995, a Creole service was added and led by Daniel Lallemand and Archimel Denis, members of the church who attended training seminars at Sonlight. Sunday service attendance grew to 80 within the year. The English service was eventually discontinued as the Creole service flourished. On March 8, 1998, the bulging congregation moved into the upstairs of the new school building. With the additional space, attendance skyrocketed by 200%. The next fall, it became school policy to require all students to attend church, at Sonlight or another of their choice. |

| During the past several years, even more of the community has joined us, bringing our regular crowd to more than 300. More importantly, we are baptizing people into Christ nearly every week. People we have prayed for and talked to for many years are yielding to Christ, and we rejoice.
Franck Estalus and Archimel Denis currently lead the congregation. Franck has been a pastor at Sonlight since 1997. Through the assistance of Sonlight supporters, Franck was able to attend Port-au-Prince Christian Institute. He graduated in May 2001. Archimel has attended Sonlight Church since its inception. Both Franck and Archimel have a passion to see other Haitians come to know Jesus. Under their leadership, church members are reaching out to serve the community in Christ's name. |

| Sunday services at Sonlight include Bible classes for adults and children, worship, communion, prayer, and a message time. To better meet the needs of our smallest worshipers, we also offer Wee Worship and Junior Worship programs for children younger than twelve. The major challenge facing Sonlight Church in recent years has been a need for space. A few years ago, God provided money to purchase property adjacent to Sonlight Academy and construct a facility to accommodate the growing congregation. We are currently building a multi-purpose building, to be used jointly by Sonlight Church and Sonlight Academy. When complete, the building will house a worship center/gymnasium, offices, and classrooms.
Please pray for Sonlight Church and its leaders, that God will lead us in meeting the needs of this growing church!
